Another brand I have been paying close attention to is a brand called VLONE by A$AP Bari, a friend of A$AP Rocky. The campaign for VLONE, in my opinion, was perfectly marketed. They sought out a particular demographic and hit it on the head. Anyone from the range of 18-25 is dying to get their hands on one of these shirts. The clean design makes it easier for it to become iconic so when anyone sees a “V” standing alone somewhere, you automatically think VLONE. I think thats what I’m having trouble with right now; trying to come up with a design that will stand alone against others while sticking to my minimalist style. Coming up with something amazing and groundbreaking is harder than it looks. But somebody has to do it……. why not me?

+ TAGS

fullsizerender-3

As you can see, this is a tag from Jerry Lorenzo’s brand 426C. He obviously is not the only one to be different and put the tag on the outside of the shirt, but i like the hand-sewn feel it has. It makes it feel like he handled each individual shirt personally. It gives off a feeling of the creator takes pride in what he puts out to the consumer and I can respect that. I am looking for the same type of look for my tags. Searching for a design of my own is the challenge I am willing to tackle.

+ GRAPHICS

My style has always been simple and clean. I plan on bringing the same theme to my garments. Fashion is moving towards a very minimal movement. Less is more. This shirt is from Jerry Lorenzo’s Fear of God brand. I really like the graphics he creates for his clothing mixed with the biblical quotes he chooses to go along with them. I like the idea of having designs that also carries a message. Simple clothing allows for layering. It also allows people to let the shirt work with other pieces in the outfit instead of overpowering other garments.

+ GARMENTS

This is how I envision the look of my clothing racks will be. And I like this picture so much because its more than just the clothes and the rack. They have set the mood for their entire brand just by adding the rose pedals and a candle. Just that little touch was such an important part. Anyone can print some graphics on a t-shirt, hang them up, and say they have a brand, but what separates you from the rest? What are those things that help the people remember what your brand has to offer? I want people to walk away from my exhibition and become excited for what I have to offer the world in the future.

+ SHOWCASE

This is a showcase for the clothing brand Rare Panther during ComplexCon in Los Angeles. This setup gave me so much inspiration soon as I saw it. This is what I want my exhibition to look like (which my own personal touch of course). The rug on the ground is my favorite part. It makes the pop-up feel like a comfortable setting while adding a creative factor to the entire set up. This exhibition and many more displayed high levels of creativity drawing in crowds from all over the place. I know that once I put my exhibition together, it will be just as good if not better.

+ LOOK BOOK

This is how I want the front cover of my look book to be. I like the front cover because it plays into the parallel of the name 426C. Being the name of the brand comes from the palette color code, the look resembling a color swatch would be creative. I envision the entire book to have a simplistic, minimal, and clean layout to go with the overall concept of the front cover and the brand as a whole.

426C: THE BRAND

I had this idea in my head for awhile now. It feels good now that I finally have the motivation to do what is necessary to complete my dream. This could possibly mean more than just a graduation assignment. This could be the door into the world I dreamed about; art, fashion, and like-minded people.
